My New Theme: Fortify

For those of you who listened to the Spiritual Center Spokane February 5th YouTube, you are aware of this emerging theme for me…fortification. It arose after crying a solid twelve plus hours over what appears to be cruelty, lawlessness, and deprivation happening at the level of our Federal Government. My initial response was sadness, then fear, then an internal rising of fortification. I adopted the word for my 2025 word. This will remain constant unless I move through it and am brought to a new energy to live. My word, my Energy Signature, my verb is Fortify. If you go to the Spiritual Center Spokane YouTube you can experience it along with me.

When I Meet Unprecedented Times I Vow to Go Spiritually Deeper

During the Covid lockdowns, I made a conscious decision to transform my home into a sanctuary, an abbey of stillness, an inner and outer state of and Divine Connection. I committed to deepening my spiritual practice—through prayer, meditation, and study. I immersed myself in scripture, particularly Psalm 23, and found solace in the teachings of King David, a man deeply committed to God. Then as many of you know I was guided to sell my home and wandered in Mexico for while continuing this deepening.

Now, as our government is being torn apart, uncertainty is in the air, and craziness is happening, I find myself making another commitment, a different commitment, one of fortification. During Covid the commitment was to what was essential. My commitment now is to strengthening my multi-dimensional selfhood to be prepared to live through an unknown that is friendly — remember, God lives in the unknown.

How I am fortifying spiritually:

  1. Doubling down on daily spiritual practice. Meditate, Pray, Reading Sacred Text or Stories of Transformation, Engage in Healing, Giving, Sacred Community.

  2. I’ve added automatic writing to my practice to cull out the quiet voice I can mask over. I introduced this on the February 5th YouTube, if you are interested in doing it with me.

  3. Continuing gratitude and love for EVERYTHING, even that which I don’t like throughout the day as it arises.

  4. I created a list of 33 ways to raise my vibration and have made it available to you here and in my previous blog post.

Fortification is a Multi-Dimensional Word so I’ve looked at all areas of my life.

Fortifying My Mind has Become a Fun Game

To fortify my mind I:

1. created a list of affirmations that bring me back to me. I will share these in an upcoming post…stay tuned.

2. stop myself throughout the day and actively look for God. As we know our mind looks for polarities and at polarities until we have risen into the Field of Oneness where Heaven exists. I can see pain, anger, hurt, AND I can see Heaven within and beyond conditions. I can feel pain, anger, and hurt AND I can access Heaven when I love these feelings into the Field of Oneness. There is lot of practice for me going on here.

3. One of my affirmations was given to me by a friend who LOVES the Course in Miracles. She said we are promised at least one miracle a day, so she wakes up asking for the miracle and waits to find it. I’m on it, with her.

4. I am learning. I am taking on-line YouTube classes to get better. I hired a business coach to help me get out of my own way. I am learning to engage in social media in ways that serve me and others.

5. I write my congressman and senators. Yep, my congressman is a man and both of my senators are women. Kind of fun. Anyhow, by the end of the year they’ll know me well.

Honoring My Body Temple in Ways I’ve Always Wanted To

I have always wanted to work out beyond my daily walks and haven’t had the time to. Now I don’t have the time to NOT workout. If our health care system collapses, is taken away, is modified in a way that I can’t participate, I must be healthy and self-sovereign.

Changes I am making:

  1. I know the food that serves me and the food that which doesn’t. I am eating for health.

  2. As I mentioned above, I am working out. I joined a gym and movement is happening. I listen to my podcasts and have fun doing it.

  3. An Executive Order greatly curtailed our ability to get unbiased health information. Just before information was cut off we learned that there is a flu amongst birds that can harm humanity. I am eating meat and poultry infrequently, eating more grains, fruits and veggies.

  4. I have taken herbal healing classes over the decades and I trust my understanding of herbal medicine. I also am a healer and I have received powerful benefits from other healers. I am utilizing these two modalities to make my immune system stronger.

  5. Fun, beyond fun, I bought a hydroponic system and four days ago planted (is that the right word?) my first lettuce leaves. I can report they are happily sprouting in four days. When I look at them I thank them for their reminder that my fortification is taking root and getting stronger by the day, also. When the weather changes and there isn’t a pile of snow on my lawn, I will create an above ground garden which I haven’t done for thirty years.

Aaah, Money, that’s a More Difficult Conversation

Where this is hard for me is that there are many financial scenarios we just can’t prepare for. I heard an Executive Ordered was signed to end the FDIC. I may have it wrong and that the FDIC will be safe, not sure (confusion is the idea). Many banking regulations have been lifted. With outsiders in our financial information, with crytpocurrency on the rise, the traditional methods of managing money during uncertain times becomes even weirder. This is where I call my financial guy who can’t predict the unpredictable and listens to my concerns. I’ve decided I probably need some cash on hand, I become more discerning on where I invest my money when I buy things, and I continue to tithe. Everything in from is OF and FROM Source so giving, my seeding, must continue.

Relationship and Community are the REAL WEALTH

Did you see the Grammy’s? I was in a puddle? Not the fear one out of which fortification arose. BUT the puddle of pure joy. Watching humanity love each other, recognize each other, sooth each other, show up for each other touched me. It was easy to see Oneness and God in the midst of the tragedy. Years ago I read an article written by a woman who had gone through cancer treatment and relied upon her friends and community to get her through all aspects of it. We need each other. Showing up for each other is rewarding and feels good.

I promise Spiritual Center Spokane will have some in person and interactive gatherings beyond YouTube. Classes, retreats, Zooms, just getting together in homes, parks, libraries…Spirit is in charge and I look forward to being present together.

Self Care

Fortification is truly all self care. There are a few things that don’t fit in the above categories that I believe are important enough to mention:

  1. It is necessary now to have a To-Go Bag ready. I learned this from my LA friends. When I learn more about what goes in it I will share with you. I know it’s important to keep all important documents digitized and available. Also, copies or original for the Go Bag. I learned that writing down our inner circles phone and physical addresses will be important.

  2. I heard during the LA fires that it takes the Red Cross three days to make it to a suffering community with help. Having three days of non perishable food, water, and necessary supplies on hand is necessary. Go water!!

  3. I do something fun every day. Luckily I like so much that doing fun isn’t hard to find.

Please share with me the many ways that you are fortifying. Go to our Facebook page www.facebook.com/spiritualcenterspokane and share what you are doing. I’d love to hear.

You are Amazing and Loved,

Reverend Bonnie
